7 Spooky Films to Watch Tonight!

Halloween is such a fun time of the year, it's the bridge (along with bonfire night) between summer and Christmas so everyone's already getting excited by the darker days and colder weather. However this year's Halloween falls on a Monday which means that your plans of partying until the early hours may be crushed as you've gotta get up for work the next day! So if you're planning on staying in this year then here's 7 halloween films to complete your spooky movie night!
In no particular order and without revealing too much;

1) Hocus Pocus

Storyline: Three witch sisters are resurrected on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to their reign of terror once and for all.

Not only is this film brilliant and way ahead of it's time (1993!) it's a classic and will be sure to take you on a nostalgic journey!

Family friendly | Scare score: 2/5 | Links to watch: Amazon / Youtube / Google Play

2) The Witches

Storyline: A young boy stumbles onto a witch convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse.

This film still gives me the creeps, and if you watched it when you were younger then no doubt it still sends chills down your back! So what better way to celebrate Halloween than watching something that used to terrorize you as a kid!

Family friendly Scare score: 2/5 | Links to watch: IMDB / Amazon / Youtube / Google Play

3) Beetlejuice

Storyline: A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

A 1988 fantasy by the very talented Tim Burton (Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands) is another classic that you really must watch.

Scare score: 1.5/5 | Links to watch: Amazon / Youtube / Google Play

4) The Woman in Black

Storyline: A young lawyer travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.

This 2012 horror drama will have you hiding behind your hands a few times, but you should be mildly reassured by seeing Harry Potter in it! ;-)

Scare score 3/5 | Links to watch: Netflix / Amazon / Google Play

5) The Conjuring

Storyline: Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family tormented by a dark presence in their farmhouse.

A dark horror that will send chills down your spine, and if you enjoy this one you could always watch The Conjuring 2 which came out earlier this year!

Scare score: 4.5/5 | Links to watch: Amazon / Google Play

6) The Others

Storyline: A woman who lives in a darkened old house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that her family home is haunted.

A personal favourite of mine filled with some scares and a twist, also the wonderful Nicole Kidman.

Scare score: 3/5 | Links to watch: Netflix / Google Play / Amazon

7) Trick 'R Treat

Storyline: Five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater.

It doesn't get much more Halloween-y than this! Creepy, eerie and scary this film has everything you need for your very own scare fest!

Scare score: 4.5/5 | Links to watch: Amazon / Google Play
